DID YOU KNOW:
-- Stars look very small because they are very, very far away from Earth. Stars are actually huge balls of gas.
-- Our sun is a star. It is much closer to Earth than the stars we see at night. The sun gives us just the right amount of light and heat we need to live on Earth.
-- Groups of stars that look like shapes are called constellations. A long time ago, people gave names to these shapes made of stars. The Big Dipper and the Little Dipper are two constellations you can see in the night sky.
-- Shooting stars aren't really stars at all. They're meteors. A meteor is a piece of a rock from outer space that burns up as it flies very fast through space.
